The greate Healer

The medical team from the states has left. They arrived in Kenya on Sunday and on Monday 9am they were already seeing patients in Maai Mahiu Town. They gave their all for the week they stayed in the town. No lunch breaks but only grabbing an energy bar when one had the time. One doctor said he had never eaten so many bars in a short time all his life. The love, the passion and commitment was evident as they worked hard to ease the pain of those who they were able to see. Many teeth were pulled and eyes checked with glasses available for those who needed them. Other ailements were treated too as they came. We also offered Voluntary Counseling and Testing (VCT) for HIV/AIDS. So many people were willing to be tested to know their status. Sometimes it was hard to deal with the results but we were comforted by the hope that we have in Christ that he never leaves nor forsakes but is with his people all the time. I took time to pray and encourage many who were hurting so bad due to their ailments. Thanks to God who is our healer for all deseases and the hope we can give to people who have faith in him. Not only for physical healing but for spritual healing too.
To prepare for this team we had to register the people who would be seen and match up numbers so that we had all doctors busy for the day. It was astonishing to see the numbers that came for registration. We could only register 600 but thousands came. I had a hard time telling some that they will be treated, while sending others home with no help with their pain. The need is great but no means to get to proper health care services.
I am encouraged by the faith that I saw in many people. Though in poverty and still in great pain due to illnesses, many people still hang on to their faith and were glorifying God for enabling them to see a new day. I cant remember how many times they said thank you for the opportunity to be seen by doctors for free. I thank God for enabling me to be part of this noble ministry. Be our partner, and pray for our Town or even support us to give medical care to many who need it. just visit ctcinternational.org and it will lead you to our donation page. Blessings to you all and keep checking

Ministry in Kenya

Hello Dear friends,
It has taken a few days for me to get settled and start communicating like I would like to. I arrived in Kenya safely but not without some struggles. I had to spend the night in Chicago as I could not go through London. I rerouted to Amsterdam the following day and the rest of it was smooth.
I had a great reunion with Hannah, big hugs, big smiles, some tears all mixed together. We were glad to be reunited again. In her own words "now I have a home to go to". I am so thankful that I was able to come back and start doing ministry in Kenya.
The weather and the environment treated me like a stranger, dust and lots of smoke on the air has been keeping my allergies going like crazy. I can't wait to be used the the germs again and stop struggling.
I am getting a few things done on the house and helping to make it livable. The fundis or construction people have been working so hard and they still have some few more days to work on the house. Hopefully it will be done when the family arrives.
Initially I was to get two weeks off to settle down but after one week I was invited to start working as the transition needs to be quicker than we first anticipated. Now I have been juggling between settling down, working on the house and shadowing on the job. Crazy busy but necessary.
I have already visited quite a good number of families who are struggling due to different kinds of issues, most of them health issues that have pushed them to abject poverty while trying to meet the cost of health care, others trying to support kids from their relatives who have passed away due to AIDS. The Pastor in charge of this ministry has organized how these families will get food, medical care, school fees for kids and spiritual care and counseling. It has always been a blessing to see their joy after we pray together and listen to their stories and give them hope not of things that perish but of things that are not perishable.
Comfort the children International has had its share of good work too in Maai Mahiu Town. I have been given a good orientation of the programs that we will be working on. We have a disabled kids day program also know as Malaika(angel) kids, that is running very well with very committed ladies who love these kids. These women are are learning how to improve their motor skills and its always a joy to see the big smiles from these kids when they receive personal care and attention.
We have another good program of Malaika Moms. The mothers to these diabled kids have been trained to do some sawing to improve their financial situation and enable them to feed their families. They are enjoying making shopping bags that hopefully will take the place of plastic bags that are all over the town.
The grandmas gardens are increasing and helping improve nutrition and hopefully will grow to bring some income for these grandmas. The school programs continues to run very well and the team that has been helping put concrete floors in the classrooms just left for Canada. I was able to preach on Sunday morning service in my local church. All friends are excited to see me back and promises that the harvest is still plentiful and needs lots of laborers.
Keep praying for me for wisdom and strength to handle all areas of service. I will keep you posted with the details as I continue to get the feel of things. Thanks for your support and prayers.
